It’s now almost November of 2016. In August of 2014 I realized I had PFPS. I have been slowly building up my mileage and preparing to run the Richmond Half Marathon on November 12, 2016! Woohoo.
I am not yet pain free while running. I’m uncertain if I’ll ever be a pain free while running. I’m uncertain if I’ll ever have an all clear to run trails again… but I’m running.
I do a lot of pilates now. I still do my stretches before EVERY. SINGLE. RUN. I do exercises for my hips and quads and knees during the week. I stretch the back of my body regularly, glutes, hams, gastrocnemius and soleus and I’ve noticed marked improvements. I bicycle every other week or so, casually, pedestrian-like, and I walk a lot. I’ve tried to round out my physical fitness efforts.
Tomorrow I’ll run 12, TWELVE miles. That’s a big deal.
